Cuban Scientist Presents in Japan Palliative to Climate Change

Tokyo- Scientific adviser of the Council of State and Vicepresident of the Academy of Science of Cuba, Fidel Castro Díaz-Balart, presented in Japan ways to face climate change, published today the Cuban embassy in this capital.
Castro Díaz-Balart offered a master lectura on the Future Perspectives of Innovations to face Climate Change, which resulted of interest to relevant scientists, professionals of the energy sector and sustainability, as well as for businesspeople of global level.
The Cuban scientist agreed with the ratification of the agreement on climate change reached in Paris and referred to the strategy of the Caribbean island to combine sustainable economic development with the reduction of gas emissions, through the application of new energy technologies.
During the conference offered in the third annual meeting of the Innovation Forum for the Cooling of the Earth, Castro Diaz-Balart highlighted the Cuban projection until 2030 in the use of renewable energies and the role of developing countries in reaching the proposed directives approved for the new objectives of the Millennium.
Previous to that event, the scientific adviser of the Cuban Council of State offered several lectures as part of the international conference of the Forum of Science and Technology in Society.
The venue constitutes a relevant international event dedicated to the advances and social impact of science and technology that is held every year in Kyoto.
He also attended the 13th Round Table of ministers, scientific advisers of governments and high representatives of related institutions, in this occasion on the topic of 'Vision for the future society and the functions of science, technology and innovation'.
During his stay in this Asian country, the scientific adviser had an intensive bilateral work program, with local authorities and representatives of companies linked to the sector, indicated the diplomatic mission of Cuba in this nation.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
