Bolivia: Very Fruitful Visit of Chinese Foreign Minister

La Paz - The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi ended today an official visit to Bolivia, which local authorities describe as very fruitful, as evidenced by the meeting with President Evo Morales, the signing of agreements and the tour of historic sites.
Morales stressed that the credit was offered without political conditions, with the aim of supporting projects such as the El Mutún Steel Company and the Viru Viru Intercontinental Airport, both in the eastern department of Santa Cruz.
The loan will also allow building important roads, such as the highway through the area. During a stay of just over 24 hours, the chief diplomat met on Thursday an intense agenda that included talks with the President, who awarded him the Order of the Condor of the Andes.
In official talks, both sides acknowledged the good state of bilateral relations and expressed willingness to continue strengthening them.
The Bolivian head of state explained that Beijing granted a credit of 4.858 million to build road and industrial projects, while it wrote off a debt of about 800,000 dollars.
The credit also will allow important projects in El Sillar (in Cochabamba), the El Espino-Charagua-Boyuibe stretch (in Beni), the Santa Rosa de la Roca-Puerto Villazon-Remanzo stretch (in Beni and Santa Cruz) and the Trinidad-Guayaramerín-Puerto Ustarez and Mamore river road (in Beni), among others.
In addition, China will collaborate on the bioceanic railroad project, and give financial support for micro- and small entrepreneurs.
The relations between China and Bolivia date from 31 years ago, but have been at their highest level since 2006, after Morales became President.
In 2013, the President visited China officially, to attend the launch of the first Bolivian satellite, Tupac Katari, built and managed during the first two years by Chinese experts.
