Syrian Ambassador Denounces US Support to Terrorists

New Delhi - Syrian ambassador in India, Riad Kamel Abbas, accused US today of supporting terrorism and denounced the Western powers for their interference in the internal affairs of various countries on behalf of democracy.
In three month Syrian Army, with the support of the Russian air force managed 10 times more results than the actions of the Pentagon against the Islamic State (IS), asserted the diplomat in an interview with IANS news agency.
Why Washington and the United Nations cry for Aleppo now and not before? 'asked Abbas, referring to the northern city, whose western part is controlled by Damascus government and the eastern by radical groups.
We saw no statement from the White House in the past when the Al Qaeda branch in Syria occupied the eastern part, but now is regretted because the Syrian armed forces have surrounded them, he denounced.
The ambassador criticized attempts to overthrow President Bashar al Assad by force by noting that he has the support of the majority of the Syrian people and many countries.
Abbas called Brics, a forum made up of Russia, Brazil, India, South Africa and China, to adopt 'a unified and clear approach against terrorism'. At the next summit of the group, to be held next Saturday and Sunday in the western Indian city of Panaji, we expect participants will condemn US interference in other countries with the alleged right to defend democracy, he stressed.
He also appreciated New Delhi's stance in the conflict, which killed far more than 350 people since it beginning in 2011.
India rejects any outside interference in our nation and supports the aspirations of the Syrian people through the internal dialogue, expressed the official.
