Russia Denounces New Attack Against its Embassy in Syria

Moscow - The Russian Foreign Ministry today denounced a new mortar attack against its embassy in Damascus, which lasted two hours.
No casualties were reported in the Wednesday attack which was launched from Khobar controlled by armed extremists. Several mortar rounds landing in the vicinity of the embassy. One of them exploded near the outer post and another a few meters from the entrance to the consular department, said the Russian ministry.
Another two projectiles fell a few meters in front of the gate of the embassy, while a third fell, without exploding, on the roof of a local school near the Russian compound.
'We expect a clear and public condemnation from those who reject terrorism and share the principle of immunity of diplomatic missions,' said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
'In addition, we confirm that the unconditional fight against terrorism implemented by Russia in Syria will continue,' says the official statement.
