Wilber Vargas is the new king

San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba - The ariguanabense Wilber Vargas Rodríguez won the provincial chess title in the first category of Artemisa. This way he is the representative of this province at the National Zone stage in search of a ticket to the national tournament.
Wilber had five wins to leave behind the defending champion, the artemiseño Michel Coto, who in the last game beat the ariguanabense Mauricio Rodríguez and thus sent him to third place on the awards podium.
Coto finished with seven points and Mauricio six and a half, improving his last performance when he finished fifth. Behind the medalists were placed Raul Musibay of Alquízar, Raynel Amaro of Artemisa, Hanoi Fernandez of Guanajay, Roberto Salgado, Eduán Gutiérrez, Lázaro Izaguirre and Armando Machín. The rapid games tournament was won by the alquizareño Raúl Musibay, who left behind the champion Wilber Vargas and the artemiseño Raynel Amaro.
