President Maduro Convokes Defense Council

Caracas - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro convoked to a Defense Council session Tuesday, to evaluate the attempt of parliamentary coup in the National Assembly (with opposition majority) and the process of peace dialogues.

'I convoke all the political powers of the nation, without exception, including the president of the Parliament, Henry Ramos Allup, to establish working policies for the future,' said the Venezuean President before thousands of citizens concentrated at the Palace of Miraflores (presidential house) Tuesday.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m., local time, here, reported the Head of State, who talked to the people after returning this Tuesday, at the end of an international working tour.

Maduro returned to the country after visiting several member countries of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and other producers not associated with this intergovernmental group, to promote initiatives with the aim of stabilizing the international prices of crude oil.

'I bring the blessings of the countries visited, to Venezuela, they see us in the world with admiration, because of the fight that we are giving and soon we will have positive results from this tour,' he announced.

'Now, we have to adopt positions and take safe decisions, to orient and channel the last adventures of the extremist sectors of the nation, which have tried to unstabilize Venezuela,' he added.

The Defense Council, led by the President of the Republic, is the maximum organ for consulting planning and supervision from the public powers in the topics related to the national defense of Venezuela, its sovereignty, and integrity.
