Mexico Hopes US Blockade Against Cuba Ends Soon

Mexico - Mexico expects today that the economic, financial and commercial blockade on Cuba will soon be lifted, according to a statement from the Secretary of Foreign Affairs (SRE).
The statement stresses that the Mexican government has supported 'once more the lifting of the blockade on Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly.'
With 191 votes for, including that of Mexico's, and two abstentions, the United Nations General Assembly yesterday approved a resolution asking for lifting the economic, commercial and financial blockade on Cuba.
'This is the first time in 25 years that the resolution of the General Assembly has been approved without opposition, confirming the widespread rejection of the international community to the blockade,' the document adds.
The adoption with no votes against also illustrates the concrete progress occurring in the normalization of relations between the United States and Cuba, which Mexico welcomes, the SRE adds.
