International Science Convention Closes in Cuba

Havana- With the closing ceremony of the congress INFO 2016 and the Workshop on Information and Communications for Sustainable Development, the 1st International Convention on Science, Technology and Innovation is concluding today in Havana.
The 14th International Information Congress, INFO 2016, was one of 10 parallel events which was held as part of the convention for five days at the Conference Center in Havana.
A forum on Open Access, with a keynote speech on the future of this trend -by researcher John Willinsky, of the Stanford University in Canada-, and a paper by Cuban specialist Elena Napoles, about sustainable development, are scheduled for today.
The 1st Workshop on Technology, Information and Communications for Sustainable Development also comes to an end with a joint session of the Cuban Information Technology Union (UIC) and the Center for Psychological and Social Research on new forms of economic management in the country.
In addition to panel discussions and lectures, the UIC will today present an award for the video game Pachamama-Games, as well as the award for the Sustainable Cities contest.
The 1st International Convention on Science, Technology and Innovation, which began in Havana on Monday, October 31st, was attended by more than 1,000 delegates from several nations. They presented 750 papers and an exhibition fair.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
