La Diana: another remarkable issue

The works of painter Gerlys Alvarez Chacon from Mariel on the cover and inside La Diana magazine third issue , and the forceful poem by writer Alberto Rodríguez Tosca from Artemisa on the back cover, are just a delicious sample of what this issue offers - fresh from the printer´s, to Artemisa´s readers ... and beyond this geography.
As in previous issues ,La Diana magazine shows diversity and high-quality proposals , starting with the article dedicated to Fidel, with infinite emotion and gratitude in his ninetieth birthday, by historian Reveca Figueredo, wise to see the leader of the Cuban revolutionary process as one of those "essential" man, according to Bertolt Brecht.
Authors such as prizewinning poet Gilda Guimeras (2015 Tiflos Award in Spain),storytellers: Francisco Garcia, Evasio Pérez, Maria del Carmen Terry, Sucet Vazquez, Cecilia Valdes Sagué, Mercedes Carballea and Olga Lidia Martinez; poets: Renito Fuentes, Reynaldo Riverón, Caridad Atencio, Yanelis Encinosa, José Alberto Naples, Mireisy Garcia , Lilia Aurora Machado and Alain Acosta, are examples of the upswing of narrative and lyric in Artemisa province.
It could be classified as very significant in the pages of this artistic and cultural magazine, the presence of Manuel Isidro Mendez, Artemisa and Spaniard, and "first biographer and passionate expert " of the life and work of José Martí.
In a combined work, by Israel Escalona and Daniel Suarez, we can see the greatness and contribution of Mendez, author of completely self-taught, able to develop a long and substantial career as a journalist and essayist, as it is showed the life and work of trumpeter and director Juan Elmo Rodriguez, known as Tapita, in an interview granted to Yailín Alicia Chacon.
It´ s worth reading the article La restauración de la iglesia San Hilarión Abad , in Guanajay by Lázaro José Capdevila and Rafael Rodriguez, as well as heartfelt chronicles A un poeta que duerme and Desde la tristeza y la admiración ,una reflexión por Alberto, by Marilú Rodríguez and Jesús Sama, respectively.
In both the leading role is carried out by the poet Alberto Rodríguez Tosca, who died prematurely, but own an impressive lyrical work, the heritage of all Artemisa´s settlers and all Cubans.
Oslaida Aguilera is responsible to remain us the value of our most authentic roots , and highlights that Artemisa has three groups who contribute to the traditions ( Magino, Arará and kinfuiti), whose members are descendants of Africans who were brought forcibly to Cuba to work as slaves .
A large sample of works from the Photography Biennial in Artemisa, by caricaturist Brady Izquierdo and photographer William Cruz, as well as a timely interview with alquizareño Alfredo Montoto from Alquizar, National Design Award by Orestes Espinosa, complete La Diana third issue , a young magazine that has already become a very strong cultural proposal.
