Mexican Authorities Visit Biopharmaceutical Companies in Cuba

Havana - A delegation comprised of Mexican authorities and businessmen, headed by the Federal Commissioner for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS), Julio Sanchez, has visited the Cuban bio-pharmaceutical companies to identify and assess areas of cooperation and business.
The visit by the Mexican delegation also aimed to promote exchange in regulatory affairs and in the pharmaceutical market.
During meetings held yesterday, Cubans and Mexicans agreed to establish a technical group to schedule the following steps for full recognition of certificates and manufacturing practices, as well as clinical protocols and health records.
According to a communique issued by the visiting group, the visitors seek to analyze regulatory issues to ensure access to the Mexican market of products from the Cuban pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
Among other officials, the head of COFEPRIS spoke in Havana with officials of the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices at the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) and managers of the Central Office of the Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries Business Group (BioCubaFarma).
According to the statement, the visit will allow closer cooperation between the two countries in health, in coordination with the business sector.
The Mexican commission is also made up of executives from Laboratorios Alpharma, Pisa, Hormona, Manuell, Kener, Bustillos, DH Pharmaceuticals, CECYC Farma and Nicolas, Sven, Pacheco and Andresen Design and Engineering International.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
