Xi Jinping Signs Book of Condolences for Fidel Castro's Death

Beijing - President Xi Jinping has signed a book of condolence today at the Cuban embassy in the nation, on occasion of the death of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
Accompanied by Foreign Minister, Wang Yi; Secretary of State Council, Yang Jiechi; and several senior officials of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPCh)'s Central Committee, Xi regretted the death of Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro, on Friday, November 25th, at the age of 90.
'My deep condolences for the death of the excellent leader of the Cuban people and the great friend of the Chinese people,' the president wrote in the book opened yesterday at the Cuban embassy in this capital.
Xi said he was moved after receiving the sad news just after his arrival on a tour of Ecuador, Chile and Peru.
He highlighted Fidel's great humanism and recalled passages from his meeting when he visited Cuba in 2014.
He also recalled when Fidel gave him a tour of a farm for the moringa tree harvest, of which he was aware has a high nutritional value.
Vice President Li Yuanchao, a member of the Political Bureau and special envoy of the Secretary General of the Communist Party of China, arrived in Cuba today along with a high-level delegation to attend the funeral rites of former President, Fidel Castro.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
