A Poster about Leader of Cuban Revolution

An image about the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, has presided over the sorrowful homage which has been paid to him throughout the nation and other latitudes.

It is perhaps the most renowned photo of the Cuban leader of the Cuban Revolution in Cuba among those ones taken by Alberto Díaz (Korda). It was taken in one of the first tours carried out by Fidel Castro to the Sierra Maestra mountain range, after the Revolutionary triumph from 1959.

When the missiles crisis on October 1962, it was reproduced thousands of printed posters through the offset system that flooded the island with the slogan: ´At your service, Commander in chief!

The image of the entire body of Fidel Castro wearing his uniform, with his rifle on his shoulder and watching the horizon covered the entire poster. This way, it was achieved the readiness from all the Cuban people to defend the national sovereignty on a crucial period of the history.

There are two texts on the left and upper angle of that image that says ´Union de Jovenes Comunistas´ (the Communist Youth League).

As local PH.D Jorge Bermúdez said through his wok entitled ´ La imagen constante. El cartel cubano del siglo XX´:

It is an exceptional poster because it gave a leading communicative role to the poster of the local UJC as it never happened later.

It summed up all the achievements of the Revolutionary political poster trend from that period of time and created the bases for the typical political and photographical poster of the Cuban Revolution which would increase its visual quality in the upcoming years.
