New Looks on Latin American Cinema from Artemisa

Artemisa -  The International School of Film and Television in San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) has opened today its space "Nuevas Miradas'', to prosecute the projects of young filmmakers and to discuss current issues in this area.

Specialists and producers will meet at the EICTV to share their experiences and value the new creations emerged at that school.

Today's agenda marks the 10 years of DOCTV Latin America', a program to promote the production and broadcasting of the Latin American documentary.

The Cuban documentary Manos de padre' will be screened at the Glauber Rocha Hall, in the presence of its director, Marcel Beltran, and producer, Maria Carla del Rio.

Issues such as distribution strategies for the first films, funds and forms of international financing and the use of digital platforms, will be under discussion until December 14.

American filmmaker, Brian de Palma, will offer a magisterial lecture on December 13.

The closing and awarding ceremony for the best works will take place at the Cuban Art Factory, near the circuit where the films of the 38th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema are being screened.

The renowned films August', by Armando Capo; and Tus padres volveran', by Pablo Martinez Pessi, are some of the most recent works benefited by the Nuevas Miradas' project, which brings together international specialists and producers to select the best proposals from the graduates of that school.

The institution -emerged from the desires by Colombian writer, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, filmmakers, Julio Garcia Espinosa and Fernando Birri, and the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro,- is celebrating its 30 years of founding in 2016.
