Russia Announces Rescue of 100,000 Syrians in Aleppo

Moscow - The Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria has announced the rescue of around 100,000 people, including 40,484 children, from eastern Aleppo, which is controlled by armed groups.

A statement from the Center said that Syrian troops has taken control of three more districts in eastern Aleppo in the last 24 hours, thus leaving leaving less than 10 square kilometers in the hands of militants.

Another 5,100 people returned to their homes in the nearly 60 districts freed in eastern Aleppo last week and a total of 2,215 irregulars laid down their weapons - 2,137 of them receiving amnesty.

Islamic State have retaken Palmira despite the successes achieved by Syrian troops in Aleppo. Syrian authorities intend to deploy their better-trained troops to fight there against the around five thousand members of ISIS who have reoccupied the town.

The terrorist group Jabhat Fatah As Sham, formerly Al-Nusra, and practically expelled from Aleppo, could also prepare a counter-attack from the neighboring province of Idlib to reconquer Aleppo.

Russian media stressed that the movement of ISIS armored vehicles on the highway from the Iraqi city of Mosul to Raqqat, in Syria and from there to Palmira, is an indication of the inaction of the international coalition.
