Guatemala-Guatemalan president, Jimmy Morales will today attend the 48th Summit of the Head of States of the Central American Integration System (SICA) that will be held in Nicaragua.
The president was accompanied by the Foreign Affairs minister, Carlos Raúl Morales and that of Economy, Ruben Morales, according to official sources.
During the meeting, Costa Rica will receive the pro tempore presidency from Nicaragua in the absence of the governor Luis Guillermo Solis, who did not attend the meeting as he was dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Otto, which left a dozen dead and multiple material damages after its passage through the country in November.
The first Vice-President and Minister of Finance, Helio Fallas and vice-foreign minister, Alejandro Solano, will be in charge of representing the Costa Rican head of state in the conclave.
The meetings prior to this summit began on Monday in Managua, where consensus is being sought on the implementation of a renewed agenda for the integration of Central America.
Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and the Dominican Republic are the member countries of SICA, which on November 13th reached its 25th anniversary in the midst of controversy over its ability to encourage development in these nations.
