Al-Nusra Front Claims Responsibility for Shooting Russian Ambassador

Damascus- The Front for the Conquest of the Levant (formerly known as Al-Nusra Front) has claimed responsibility, in a statement, for the assassination, in Turkey, of the Russian Ambassador, Andrei Karlov, media outlets report today in Damascus.

According to a statement posted on several websites, the action had been coordinated with the Turkish Grey Wolves and the Turkistan Islamic Movement, 'in revenge for Aleppo and Russia's support of the apostates,' in reference to the Syrian Government.

In their usual arrogant act, the statement announced that 'Aleppo would be the door to conquer Damascus, Ankara, Moscow, Baghdad and other cities around the world.'

The former Al-Nusra Front, considered by the United States and other Western powers as the moderate opposition, has been the main perpetrator of more than 600 deadly attacks from 2012 to 2016 in Damascus and other Syrian cities

Official sources said it was the first time that the terrorist organization assumed responsibility, at least publicly, for an attack outside of Syrian borders.
