Mexico - The National Regeneration Movement (Morena) in Mexico City announced protests against the increase in gasoline prices.

A strong popular reaction accentuates this conflict generated by the measure. At least 190 people are detained in the state of Mexico after looting of shopping centers in 16 municipalities.

A statement from the state government reported Thursday about 190 people arrested by police, who had to shoot the air to disperse the looters.

It was the third day of vandalism following the increase in fuel prices decided by the federal government, which also led to road blockades by transporters and citizens.

Martí Batres, leader of Morena in the capital, stressed that as part of these protests, which he said will be pacific, there will be a concentration in the Hemiciclo a Juárez next Wednesday.

There, they will demand that the increase of gasoline prices to be cancelled, as well as the increase in electricity and liquefied gas.

He assured that on January 11th it will be requested the immediate annulment of the increase in fuel tariffs.

Batres said they also demand that the government of Miguel Angel Mancera does not increase prices to public transport.

On January 1st the increase in gasoline and diesel prices went into effect.
