Russia Reduces Military Build-up and Withdraws Carrier from Syria

Moscow - Russia today announced the start of the reduction of their military forces in Syria and also the withdrawal of the aircraft carrier Admiral of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov, which is stationed off the Syrian coast.

After eliminating more than 1,200 targets in Syria, aircraft carrier will leave the conflict zone along with other ships of the Russian fleet, according to the chief of Staff, Army General Valeri Guerasimov.

The army general also thanked the crew of the Russian aircraft carrier for the successful completion of their mission in Syria, where a ceasefire has been in effect since December 30th.

The head of the Russian forces in Syria, Colonel General Andrei Kartapolov, said that the naval group had already fulfilled its obligations in Syria, whose government had called on Russia to support it in combating terrorist groups.
