
Brna - Argentinean professional soccer forward player Lionel Messi was chosen the only Latin American player included by internauts as a member of the ideal team formed by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) as stated by this organization Thursday.
Messi, now a player for Spanish pro club FC Barcelona, became the 3rd soccer player with the biggest amount of votes in favor, with 418,449.
Messi ended behind Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, who got 488,908 votes, and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo (450,220 votes), both now stars of the Spanish club Real Madrid.
Also from Real Madrid, midfielders Luka Modric (Croatia, 381, 234 votes) and Toni Kroos (Germany, 267,334 votes) were selected, turning the Real Madrid into the professional team with more players in the UEFA ideal team.
FC Barcelona also included Spanish Andres Iniesta (332,914 votes) and defender Gerard Pique (253,437 votes) in the UEFA ideal team, which list is completed with the selection of French forward Antoine Griezmann (203,926 votes) now playing for Spanish Atletico de Madrid.
The other three members of the ideal team are the Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon (323, 036) and his compatriot and defender Leonardo Bonucci (261,030), both from Juventus, and the German midfielder Jerome Boateng (238,173), from the Bayern Munich.
In this way, the ideal team of the UEFA was formed by Buffon; Sergio Ramos, Boateng, Bonucci, Pique; Modric, Kroos, Iniesta; Messi, Griezmann and Cristiano Ronaldo.
