Putin Values Church's Contribution to Defense of Moral Values

Moscow- President Vladimir Putin praised the role of the Church in the defense and preservation of moral and family values in society by congratulating the Russians on Orthodox Christmas.
Putin said in a Christmas message that patriarchy, along with the leadership of other religious denominations in this country, plays an important role in the revival of moral values and in the preservation of Russia's cultural and historical heritage.
In addition, the cooperation of religious institutions with social structures of the state in education, knowledge and philanthropic actions, as well as education within the family of future generations, is strengthened, he assured.
In his message Putin wishes the Orthodox Christians and all the citizens of Russia who celebrate this Christmas health, success and prosperity. The days of the Orthodox Christmas bring Russians back to their roots and traditions. Last night, Putin attended the Christmas ceremony at the Spask Cathedral, inside the Holy Yurev monastery in the Novgorod region.
