Cuba, USA Talks on Sanctions vs. Human Trafficking

Havana - Representatives of Cuba and the United States have held in Washington the fourth bilateral meeting on human trafficking, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean island reported today.
During the meeting, conducted on January 12th and 13th, the Cuban delegation presented the measures applied in this nation to prevent and face up that scourge, as well as the support and assistance this country has given to those victims.
According to a note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting is part of the 'zero tolerance' policy implemented to any modality of human trafficking.
Those measures are also applied to other crimes related to sexual and labor exploitation, among others, which approves the exemplary performance of our country in this issue, the text states, which stressed the professional and respectful atmosphere of the talk.
The meeting was presided over by Director of Bilateral Issues at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yuri Gala, and the ambassador in charge of the Monitoring Office and Fighting Human Trafficking at the U.S. Department of State, Susan Coppedge.
Officials from the Supreme Electoral Court and the General Attorney's Office of the Republic, as well as others from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Public Health, Work and Social Security, Education and Tourism also participated by the visiting side.
The U.S. delegation was also comprised of representatives of the Departments of State, Justice, Internal Security, Health and Human Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Fidel's presence was recalled in several Ariguanabo centers and institutions. Students from the Eduardo Abela Vocational School of Art, located in San Antonio de los Baños, paid tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, through dance and music.
