Xi jinping: China Calls for Peaceful Development

Beijing - China projects itself to the world with a call to peaceful development, judging by the perforrnance of President Xi Jinping in the recently concluded Davos Forum.

Xi asked the international community to unite in order to achieve global long lasting peace and to build a shared destiny for humanity in face of increasing challenges all nations face today.

In a speech delivered at the headquarters of the United Nations Organization (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland, Xi exposed his vision of the future of humanity and advocated for a world of lasting peace, based on common prosperity and an open development, clean and inclusive.

He emphasized this millenary country has been and will be committed to the defense of world peace, because 'during several milleniums, peace has been in the blood of the Chinese and has been part of our DNA', he repeated.

In that sense, China passed from being a poor and weak country to become the second largest economy of the world, not committing to military expansion or colonial plundering and its efforts are to defend peace.

China will never seek hegemony, expansion or spheres of influence, he reiterated.

According to Xi, who is in Switzerland on a State visit of four days since last Sunday in Davos, where he delivered an inspiring speech at the 47th World Economic Forum, saying the development of China has been possible thanks to the world and at the same time, this nation has contributed to the world's development.

The Executive invited all countries to 'step up to the fast train of China's development'.

He stressed his country has given other countries over 400 billion yuans (58 billion 400 million dollars) in aid from 1950 to 2016 and since the beginning of the international financial crisis, China contributed as average over 30 percent of the global yearly growth.

He equally advanced that over the next five years, China will import eight billion dollars in products, will attract 600 billion dollars in foreign investment, will destine 750 billion dollars to investment abroad and Chinese tourists will make 700 million trips to other countries.

We have formed associations of different kinds with over 90 countries and regional organizations and we will build a friendly circle around the world, he expressed.

According to the local media, the President said China will struggle to build a new model of relations between big countries with the United States, a strategic integral association of coordination with Russia, an association of peace, growth, reform and civilization among different civilizations with Europe and an association of unity and cooperation with BRICS member countries.

He praised the contribution universally recognized of the UN and other international organisms to the maintenance of world peace and sustainable development.

Xi defended that each country has the right to elect independently their social system and their path to development, while he urged to ban completely and totally destroynuclear weapons.

To combat terrorism is the shared responsibility of all the countries, he asserted, and asked not only to attend the symptoms of the scourge, but to eliminate its causes from the root.

To reach the call to lasting peace he also recalled as essential the rejection to trade protectionism and isolation, and celebrated the Paris Agreement as a milestone in history of climate governance.
