Havana, Cuba - Cuban cyclist Marlies Mejías will compete with her team, Shimano Ladies Power, in the Tour of Uruguay and in the Tour of San Juan, Argentina, where she is already conducting training sessions.

According to JIT sports publication, the first of these contests will begin next Thursday, and the second one will start on February 12th.

Mejias, 24, previously had an outstanding performance in the Colombian Tour by winning the points race and the intermediate sprints events.

She also ranked 41st in the individual general classification among more than 100 contestants from 23 teams.

The outstanding Cuban athlete also stands out by finishing seventh in the omnium event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

In addition, she won the women´s event in the second edition of the Titan Tropic mountain bike competition, staged in the western Cuban areas of Soroa, Viñales and Jutía Key, said JIT.
