Brussels - The commercial protectionism defended by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, can greatly harm many Latin American countries, said the president of the Group Eurolat, Ramon Jauregui, in his Wednesday statements.

With 'a deep concern', the official said he had observed events and considered that Trump's decision to withdraw his country from the trans-Pacific Agreement of Economic Cooperation (TPP), 'will have an impact on commercial expectations' of nations such as Mexico, Chile and Peru.

The representative of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (Eurolat) criticized the decision of Trump of building a wall with Mexico, and outlined the suffering that this can cause.

'The agreement to raise a wall, I don't know if perhaps, with the pay by poor Mexicans, may represent an enormous suffering for the Latin American people and we are concerned that these measures imply a serious bias', he said.

'We are living a delicate time', evaluated the politician, who appreciated the importance of strenghthening ties with the Union European, to reinforce its presence in Latin America.

According to Jáuregui, Trump has challenged the peace agreement with Colombia.

'We cannot just understand, how someone from outside can question the peace agreement between the Colombian government and the FARC (the guerrilla), when this Parliament has supported in repeated occasions this hopeful process', he said in a debate in the Parliament.
