Eastern Medical Image Network to Operate in Cuba

Santiago de Cuba - Specialists from Medical Biophysics Center (MBC) and the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba are working together to develop an eastern medical image network which will be favoring Cuban healthcare and training.
Dr. Juan García, MBC Director, stated that it will have some equipment donated by VLIR Project from some Belgian Universities and the 'Cerrar la brecha''Organization, in order to equip those Cuban hospitals involved in the necessary Computerized means.
He also said that these devices will be working by the new version Imagis 2.0. This medical image transmission system is one of the main results of CBM's 24 years of work, founded by the historical leader, Fidel Castro, in his effort to increasingly develop Cuban biomedical industry.
Meanwhile, MSC. Henry Blanco, in charge of this project, reported that this completely new system will be firstly implemented in 21 hospitals, 16 located in the eastern area from Las Tunas to Guantanamo provinces, as well as other five western medical institutions, including the Medical-Surgical Research Center and 'Hermanos Ameijeiras' Hospital.
He also said that this computer solution, which facilitates the flow of information, should start off from coming April for a period of one year.
