Havana, Feb 14 (Prensa Latina) The President of Ireland, Michael Higgins, will be arriving in Cuba tomorrow for his first visit to the island, fulfilling an official invitation from his Cuban counterpart Raúl Castro.
Mr. Michael Higgins' visit is part of a tour across Latin America that took him to Colombia, where he met with President Juan Manuel Santos to get to know at close hand the peace process in this South American country. Previously, Mr. Higgins visited Peru where he met President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
Before meeting with his Cuban counterpart, the Irish leader will be honoring Jose Marti, at the Revolution Square in Havana.
According to the planned program, Mr. Michael Higgins will participate in activities related to the 26th Havana Book Fair and also deliver a master lecture next Friday at Colegio de San Gerónimo, located in the historic center of this city.
This is the first tour of an Irish President in the region.
