Rubén Suárez Quidiello is an outstanding Cuban painter, who reflected in his works emblematic places of San Antonio de los Baños, the land where he was born. He is known as the image of the people. The houses and streets are reproductions of picturesque pictures reflecting this city, also known as ‘’La Villa del Humor’’ (The Village of Humor).
In the paintings made near the Ariguanabo River, he was always inspired by the weeping willows, as shown in the first painting, which reflects the place known as "La Placita".
The Central Park, now the José Martí Park was also the place of his creations. The Sumidero Cave, where the Ariguanabo River flows, was also touched by the brush of this Ariguanabo’s creator, as well as the park "La Alameda". Currently the restaurant Doña Yuya, located on 41st Avenue, treasures a mural made by "El Gallego", as he was called.
