Cubans in Nicaragua Against US Blockade

Managua -The Association of Cuban Residents in Nicaragua is preparing its 6th national meeting, in support of its country in the fight against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States.
'The meeting will be held next Sunday in this capital, and it will focus on the denunciation of that hostile policy of Washington, which extends for more than five decades against the island, and the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro,' Salvador Santana, a member of the association's board, told Prensa Latina.
Both themes, he said, will be addressed in presentations prepared by the different groups of Cubans living in the Central American nation.
Referring to the characteristics of that foreign community here, Santana called it solid and revolutionary, linked to both the Cuban and Nicaraguan Revolution.
On the other hand, he recalled that while Cuba and the United States established diplomatic relations, the blockade still persists and the territory of Guantanamo base continues to be occupied by the northern country against the will of the government and people of the Largest of the Antilles.
'That is why the Cuban people- he stressed- stand firm demanding that these obstacles be eliminated, as an indispensable condition for the normalization of relations between Havana and Washington.'
