The awarding ceremony of the 3rd edition of Juntarte Contest, an initiative of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in Artemisa (UNEAC), took place this February 28 in San Antonio de los Baños, timing to honor the 101 anniversary of Angel Valiente’s birth, an outstanding poet of Ariguanabo who gave great contributions to the history of the tenth in Cuba.
The Martiano Forest of Ariguanabo received, among rocks, trees and the sound of its bell, members of UNEAC, fighters, repentistas and workers from the mass media who participated in the event to gratify the work of Artemisa’s radio, film and television makers.
The winners were: Maidel Rodríguez, (Ariguanabo Radio), Jaime Masó Torres and Yarima Córdova, (Provincial Telecenter Artemisa Visión) and Orlando Martínez, (Artemisa Radio). The works "Romelio and Juliana", "Looking for the Brujito" and "At the appointed time" stood out for the realization and its social impact.
Juan Carlos Muñoz, president of Artemisa’s UNEAC, announced that Juntarte is an initiative of the film, radio and television subsidiary, which this time was held in a different environment; the tribute made each year to Angel Valiente in the Martiano Forest. The artist summoned the participants to overcome the expectations we have about this contest, since the mass media represent a very important weapon; something that Cuban culture and society need to face the challenges of the country's current historic situation. Juntarte is ready for its fourth edition.
New challenges will motivate our artists, stimulating the intention to cultivate the quality of their works in favor of the development of culture and the broadcast media in the territory.
