Luanda - More than eight million Angolans are now registered in the Compulsory Electoral Register with a view to forthcoming August''s elections, announced the Minister of Territory Administration (MAT), Bornito de Sousa.
The information was provided during the delivery to the president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) André da Silva Neto of the penultimate report of February registration.
The procedure carried out by the MAT, and to which it is bound by law, provides the CNE with the voters' database to prepare the voting notebooks used on the day of the elections, even without a definite date.
Once again we were surprised by the willingness of the register institution, who quickly offered us this February report, expressed the spokesperson of electoral arbitrator, Julia Ferreira.
The timely delivery of the data showed, once again, the dedication and effort of the Ministry of Territory Administration in carrying out the electoral registration process.
Ferreira also praised the tasks of mobilizing citizens, civic electoral education and the citizens' information system, as well as the process of registering in areas of difficult access with the support of the Angolan Armed Forces.
The electoral registration process began on August 25 of last year and must be carried out until next day 31. The goal is to reach nine million registered voters.
