Caracas - The Venezuelan people is prepared to face and resist any scenario of aggression, the Venezuelan former ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Roy Chaderton said today.
The Bolivarian diplomat appeared this morning on the television program La Pauta de Hoy, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), where he said that the US empire 'has not and will never be able to implement its agenda in the country, because the people have developed a tremendous capacity for survival.'
'We have to struggle -he added- we have to sacrifice ourselves with a positive sense to defeat an enemy who is having problems in many parts of the world.'
Chaderton also referred to the request being made by some groups of the right-wing opposition in Venezuela to activate the Inter-American Democratic Charter, something that, in his opinion, 'will be a battle that must be fought, and the country is prepared to the fight.'
'We have an angry people who have been abused for 18 years and despite that time has not been broken,' said the ex-ambassador.
He also referred to the recent offensive phrases towards Latin America delivered in the United States by Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, pointing out that 'he put himself in an awkward position with Venezuela and his people.'
Kuczynski delivered a speech a few days ago at Princeton University, following his visit to President Donald Trump in the White House, where he stated that 'the United States does not invest much time in Latin America because it is like a good dog that is sleeping on the carpet that does not cause any problems (...) but the case of Venezuela is a big problem.'
The Venezuelan ex-ambassador to the OAS described Kuczynski as an 'international bureaucrat trained in the United States.'
These declarations of the Peruvian president provoked angry reactions of the government of Venezuela and of leaders of other nations, social movements and Latin American popular organizations.
