Venezuelan Ombudsman Calls to Prevent Violence, Respect Constitution

Caracas - Venezuelan Ombudsman Tarek William Saab called on the leaders of opposition organizations in Venezuela to respect the Constitution of the Republic to contribute to the country''s stability.
All rallies or marches in the country must take place according to law to prevent violent acts like those in 2014, when 43 people were killed and more than 800 were wounded, Saab noted in several messages on his Twitter account.
He informed that the Ombudsman's Office, along with relevant security authorities, is following up on the mobilizations organized in all states to enforce the defense of human rights.
Venezuela's Public Ministry will bring to court the opponents arrested for participating in vandalistic acts promoted by right-wing organizations on Monday.
According to a press release from the Ministry, 18 people were arrested in the Metropolitan Area of Caracas, 20 in the state of Lara and two in the state of Miranda for participating in violent acts against citizens and private and public institutions on Monday, when two people were injured in Caracas, and the headquarters of the Public Ministry in the state of Lara was damaged, the communiqué said.
