UN Rapporteur Visits Cuban Sexual Education Center

Havana - The United Nations Special Rapporteur, Maria Grazi Gianmmarino visits today the National Sexual Education Center (Cenesex) in compliance with her agenda in Cuba to verify the struggle against human trafficking.

In that institution, the UN official on human rights of human trafficking victims, especially women and children, has scheduled a meeting with the deputy director of Cenesex, Manuel Vazquez.

This center counts on professionals of various specialties for the coordination and development of the Cuban Sexual Education Program, which envisages education in that sense from the first moments of the life and commits the whole society in its implementation.

In order to fulfill this objective, its experts develop actions in favor of the improvement and balance of sexual and reproductive health through programs and health services such as Responsible Maternity and Paternity, Family Planning and Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections as well as consultations Orientation and Therapy.

According to the Cuban official, the Special Rapporteur acknowledged Cuba's political will in confronting human trafficking, as well as the viability of the plan of action it implement with that purpose, which focuses on three fundamental pillars, prevention , Confrontation and attention to victims.

The UN rapporteur will conclude her official visit to the Caribbean nation next Friday with a press conference in the Cuban capital.
