Ecuador Begins Granting Credentials to Elected Assembly Members

Quito - The Ecuadorian National Electoral Council (CNE) has begun the process to grant credential to the elected provincial assembly members, after the general elections held on February 19.

The ceremony to start the process developed in the province of Orellanas, where the CNE executive board led by its president, Juan Pablo Pozo, accredited Alberto Zambrano, from the governing Alianza Pais Movement and Eddy Peñafiel, from Pachakutik, as members of the National Assembly.

Acting legislators Luz Vegay, from the governing movement, and Yony Bustamante, from Pachakutik, were also granted credentials as members of the assembly.

The process will continue today in the province of Sucumbios and next week in Imbabura, Carchi, Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Pichincha, Santa Elena, Los Rios, Guayas and the Galapagos.

According to the schedule, the process will continue later in the territories of Cotopaxi, Tungurahua, Chimborazo, Bolivar, Manabi, Zamora Chinchipe, Loja, El Oro, Azuay, Cañar, Morona Santiago, Pastaza and Napo.

This post-electoral stage will conclude with a ceremony for all the National Assembly members.
