Beirut,  President Michel Aoun has met today with Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister, Marcelino Medina Gonzalez, who is visiting this Arab nation with the aim of strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation ties.

Medina arrived in Beirut last night in the final stage of a tour begun on May 6th by Arab countries and included Algeria and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), where he explained the Caribbean nation's will to strengthen ties and reciprocal solidarity.

According to the program of his visit here, the Cuban first deputy foreign minister will have a courtesy meeting with Aoun at the Presidential Baabda Palace, and then a similar meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil.

At the headquarters of the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Medina will sign a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic, official and service passports, and then he will hold official talks with the ministry's secretary general, Charbel Wehbe, official sources told Prensa Latina.

Medina's agenda, whose visit will end tomorrow, also includes a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon, Nabih Berri, who will receive him at his official residence in Ain El-Tineh, near the southwest coast of Beirut, accompanied by Cuban charge d'affaires here, Raul Madrigal.
