Tension on Syria's South Border

Damascus - While common sense gains ground today in the search for peace in Syria, tension escalates, particularly along the 442 kilometers of the nearly desert border with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
After a recent incursion by U.S. and Jordan troops in the bordering region of At Tanf, allegedly to isolate the Islamic State (Daesh in Arabic), military movements have increased.
In tune with aggressive official statements from Amman against the creation of four détente zones on Syrian territory, agreed upon in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, those groups are announcing 'preventive maneuvers'.
They are being carried out when one of the détente areas is precisely southern Syria and the borders of the Syrian provinces of Deraa, Sweida and Damascus with Jordan, a country that has maintained an apparent and discrete stance by 'washing its hands' like Pontius Pilate.
Forces allied to the Syrian government, including the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, warned about an escalation of tension and the 'tests of strength' in that regard, to which the Zionist regime of Israel resorts very often in the occupied Golan Heights, against Quneitra and the Mezzeh airport in Damascus, which has been attacked at least three times over the past few months.
Jordan King Abdullah II's visit to the United States, shortly after Donald Trump took over the presidency in that country, is aimed at achieving those objectives by delivering new financial and military assistance.
Add to those elements the fact that the recent summit of the Arab League was held in the Jordan capital, where no consensus was reached about supporting the Palestinian cause, and the war imposed on Syria, virtually expelled from that organization, was barely discussed.
The United States, the United Kingdom and the Zionist regime of Israel consolidate their criteria in that regard, after years of joint intelligence work, preparation for subversive actions and an unprecedented media campaign.
On the other hand and in order to explain these assessments, it is worth pointing out that in Jordan and under the leadership of Washington, is the headquarters of the Advanced Central Command with representatives from more than 40 countries, clearly enemies of Syria, and two centers, one for ground intelligence and the other to train special forces.
That siege from the south, obviously against the agreements in force for the operation of the four détente zones on Syrian territory, is a program designed in 2008 and called at the time 'The Hornet's Nest', according to the former expert with the U.S. National Security Agency, Edward Snowden.
