Rodny Montes de Oca, who is the director of the anti-doping laboratory from Havana city, declared on the Deportivamente program of Radio Rebelde that there is a high cigar consumption by our local athletes.

For approximately an hour, the young director, aged 33 and five years of them running the laboratory, referred to the illegal related consumption by Cuban sport men and he also offered an updating view of that institution directed by him.

“In the samples that we analyze from the athletes, it is observed the presence of nicotine and if they did not consume them, then they would be the image of the youth.” Rodny Montes de Oca began working in the aforementioned laboratory in 2002, a year after of the inauguration.

“The nicotine is part of a monitoring program and its consumption could be perhaps limited for the local athletes in future.” He said.

“On the other hand, the marijuana is no completely forbidden, but there are some limits, which if were surpassed, could be considered as doping.” He highlighted.

“We can get to know, through the related test we carry out, the athlete who consumed marijuana, besides, there are people who consume it passively and not directly.” He added.
