Asuncion, Most of the Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay is quite positive for the approval of decriminalizing marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) for medical use, local officials reported.

There is a majority in the lower house who is in favor of decriminalizing marijuana for medicinal use, Deputy Oscar Gonzalez Drakeford told the press.

MPs believe conditions are already set for cannabis oil to be produced in the country. 'Thousands of patients suffering from refractory epilepsy and other ailments strongly need such a product for their health improvement.'

Some days ago, according to La Nacion newspaper, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare informed the approval of regulated use of marijuana for medical use in Paraguay. LASCA Pharmaceutical Co. has become the first importer legally authorized by the State for its import.

As expected, the first imports will arrive in the first 10 days of June, while the domestic production of this product is expected to start before the end of 2017.

The term medicinal marijuana is generally used to refer to the use of the entire marijuana plant or raw extracts from it to treat a disease or symptom.

Some scientific researches on marijuana chemists, called cannabinoids, have led to the creation of drugs that might help treat several diseases and symptoms.

An example of this is the drug called Sativex, a cannabis´s by-product, providing components such as tetrahydrocannaninol and cannabidiol, and is prescribed for patients with multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.

This product is quite useful to fight pain and tension in muscles, caused by spasticity (stiffness and tightness of muscles that interfere with normal movement, speech and gait).
