Cuba Hosts Seminar on Traumatology and Pediatric Orthopedics

Havana - Attention of the main traumatic affections, deformities and pediatric orthopedic alterations are among the themes of an international meeting, which is held here today and extends until Friday.
The AOTrauma Seminar-Advances on Traumatology and Pediatric Orthopaedics brought to Havana scholars from the AO Foundation, a working group for the study of problems associated with fractures, as well as specialists from Chile, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia.
Another issue to be discussed is the advancement in a medical education program, which combines the teaching of the latest advances and knowledge coupled with the necessary surgical skills to improve the care and outcomes of the pediatric patient.
In this way, orthopedic surgeons and traumatologists can take theory into practice and thus improve the management of fractures and deformities for the benefit of the patient, Jaime Quintero Laverde, director of the seminar, told Granma newspaper.
Didactic presentations and case discussion sessions are included in the scientific program, which seeks to recognize how bones, skeletal characteristics and bone remodeling and healing processes have particular conditions in children and adolescents, unlike adults, Quintero explained.
The event is hosted by the capital Hospital General Calixto García, one of the most prestigious health institutions in Cuba.
