Infrastructure Grows in Varadero

Havana - The main Cuban resort of Varadero today exhibits a sustained growth of its infrastructure and several proyects to ensure the future of this resort, said official sources.

The famous beach, distant about 140 kilometers east of this capital, covers 21 thousand 500 rooms in 57 hotels, reported the newspaper Juventud Rebelde.

In addition there operates an outside chain and services with high levels of quality, with a forecast to continue growing through new investments.

According to the director of operations, investments and quality of the subsidiary at Varadero's group of Turismo Gaviota, Gilberto Cruz, theres is a plan for the construction of a golf camp eith a course of 18 holes.

Two new hotels in the area known as Oasis, Wave 1 and Wave 2, will add more than a thousand rooms, and a third one, The Clouds, of 564 rooms, will be highiest of the of the resort with 24 floors.

The delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) in the province of Matanzas, Ibis Fernandez, praised the constructive quality of the Varadero international hotel, which is projected to ge operational by the end of 2018, with a capacity of 981 rooms. Fernandez told that so far this year, more than half a million tourists visited Varadero, mostly from Canada, Germany, Russia, Italy, France, and national vacacionists.
