Cuban Parliament President Reaffirms Historical Friendship with China

Shanghai - The president of the Cuban People''s Power National Assembly (ANPP), Esteban Lazo, on an official visit here today, has reaffirmed in this Chinese city the historical friendship that unites both governments, communist parties and peoples.

Following a fruitful high-level agenda carried out in Beijing, China's capital, the leader of the Cuban parliament began yesterday a visit to the Shanghai municipality and Jiangsu province.

He fraternally met in this city with the chairman of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Yin Yicui, with whom he corroborated the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations and between Shanghai and Cuba.

Yin reaffirmed the undisputed leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPCh) as a guide for all forces in the construction of the socialism of the Asian nation and within the parliamentary scheme from the grass-roots.

About this issue, he transferred the responsibility of China's National People's Congress as a legislative body and representative of the power of the State and the People.

Esteban Lazo revalidated the historical friendship that unites both governments, communist parties and peoples, within which the ties with Shanghai stand out. At the same time, he updated the parliamentary leader on the process of updating the economic-social model the Caribbean island is carrying out, and the peculiarities of its parliamentary system.

Both sides agreed on the importance of further progress in strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, with an emphasis on sharing experiences, communication, and visits in both directions.

Shanghai, with more than 24 million inhabitants, is one of four municipalities directly subordinated to the central government, and one of the main centers of economic development, and the Reform and Opening of the second power of the world.

The visit to Shanghai, which also included a tour of the Kempinski Hotel, to which the joint venture Shanghai-Suncuba is a owner, with Cuban group Cubanacan as the majority shareholder, noted the excellent relations of brotherhood and cooperation existing with this mega city, and the potential for future collaboration in priority sectors of common interest.
