Havana- US artists will participate in the Traveling World Festival of Poetry of Our America, to be held from July 9th to 15th in Cuba seeking to promote cultural exchange between the two countries, said the media.

According to Alex Pausides, director of the Association of Writers and the Festival of Havana, a dozen writers from the United States will participate in the event, which supports peace and solidarity, contrary to the recent statements by US President Donald Trump.

According to the newspaper Granma, the US delegation will be led by outstanding poet Robert Hass, winner of many awards as the Pulitzer in 2008.

Outstanding poet Brenda Hillman, Hass´ wife and activist against arm development and environmental degradation, and writers Jane Mead, Claudia Keelan y Jane Hirshfiled, will also participate in the event.

According to Pausides, the event will be hosted by the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the House of Poetry in Habana Vieja and the Center Dulce Maria Loynaz, while artists from Argentina, Slovenia, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Brazil will also participate in the event.
