Havana Now Has Jose Marti's Academic Record

Havana - The National Archives of Cuba is currently keeping a facsimile of the academic record of National Hero, Jose Marti, corresponding to the period in which he studied at the Central University of Madrid.

Given yesterday by the Subdirectorate-General of Spain's state-run archives, responsible for the protection and conservation of the documentary heritage of the Iberian nation, the file contains, among other pages, a copy of the university degree granted to the Cuban hero by the Faculty of Law of the referred center.

According to the documentation, the Cuban independence hero formalized in 1871 enrollment in Political and Administrative Law, and Political Economy and Statistics.

The deputy director of the Spanish state-run archives, Severiano Hernández, also gave a map of the island with the designation of lighthouses, according to the General Lighting System for the coasts, the Cuban News Agency reports.

A map of the railways designed and built from Havana to Jucaro town, in central province of Ciego de Avila, and the concession to the Convent of San Juan de Letran, in Havana, to become a university, were also granted.

The donation included maps of the capital and the Castillo de Los Tres Reyes del Morro o the Morro Castle, and some digital images and descriptions of all the pieces.
