Cuba Hosts China-Latin America Seminar

Havana - Contributing to the fight against climate change through the innovation in clean energy and technology transfer, the China-Latin America Seminar is being held here today, with the participation of Cuba, Brazil, Peru and that Asian country.
The event is held in parallel to the 14th International Congress on Sugar and Byproducts, Diversification 2017, taking place at Pabexpo fairgrounds from Monday, June 26, with the participation of specialists and entrepreneurs from 25 countries and includes a trade fair and a business forum.
According to its organizers, the seminar aims to promote academic exchange, staff training, technology transfer and industrial cooperation in clean energy, climate change, sustainable development and electric vehicles.
It background is the establishment in 2015 of the China-Latin America Laboratory with support of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology. It is led by the Tsinghua University and coordinated by the director of the Institute of Applied Chemistry of that higher education center, Dehua Liu.
The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Cuban Sugarcane Byproducts Research Institute and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, among other institutions, are part of the program for Latin America.
The first seminar was held in Brazil just one year ago, the second was in China and the third in Cuba.

Havana - Cuba is a nation with a wealth of culture, stated the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Audrey Azoulay, at the inauguration of the 41st International Festival of New Latin American Cinema on Thursday, running through December 15 in this capital.
