Pinar del Río prepares for National Rebellion Day

Pinar del Río - In the midst of intense construction works, dozens of projects in honor of July 26, National Rebellion Day, are being carried across the province.
Since the province was named host of the national act commemorating the 64th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Garrisons, efforts have been underway to advance in many of the works that had been scheduled for September, when the provincial capital will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its recognition as a city.
The Commerce Enterprise Group for example, estimates that around 35 of the 40 works currently underway will be ready by July 26.
The entity’s Director, Manuel Collera Medina, explained that these initiatives include large-scale projects, such as that being undertaken at the Coppelia ice cream parlor, which despite its deteriorated state should be finished in time.
Meanwhile, the representative also mentioned repairs to the La Ópera workshop, Sensación industrial market, El Criollito café, and the Hotel Italia’s façade, restaurant and cafeteria.
These institutions form part of 30 that have already been completed by the group in honor of the city of Pinar del Río’s 150th anniversary, including the La Marina Hotel, Primor beauty parlor, La Estocada specialist butchers, and Fruti-Club gastronomic-technological center.
Speaking to Granma, Collera Medina noted that this is the first renovation process of its size to be undertaken in the sector, noting that support from different administrations and financing from the Municipal Administration Council, through local development funds, have been key to such efforts.
According to the director, alongside these large-scale projects, other smaller initiatives such as painting and decorating, are being carried out by various teams in the lead up to National Rebellion Day.
