
La Paz - Several speakers highlighted the validity of the legacy of Ernesto Che Guevara in the process of Bolivian change, during a conversation held last night at the La Paz Book Fair, which continues its activities today at the Chuquiago Marka fairground of this city.
The homage is part of the events to mark the 50th anniversary of the presence in Bolivia of the Heroic Guerrilla, program which will culminate in the month of October in Vallegrande.
The outstanding researcher Carlos Soria, author of the series 'El Che en Bolivia', among many other texts, recalled that Ernesto Guevara arrived in La Paz on November 3, 1966 with a political proposal for this nation.
The journalist and university professor also explained that this revolutionary leader fought for the total independence of Bolivia and considered necessary the competition of friendly countries.
Soria considered interesting the coincidence and the approximation between the ideas of Che and the projects promoted by the president, Evo Morales, during the process of change.
Ernesto Guevara de la Serna was born in Rosario, Argentina. He was a revolutionary fighter who fought in Cuba, in the Congo and in Bolivia. Eric Valdés, charge d'affaires of the Cuban embassy, recalled that Ernesto Guevara de la Serna was born in Rosario, Argentina.
'Che is universal. He left many lessons in Cuba and also received many lessons from his teacher, the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro,' he said.
Jorge Barrón, a member of Che's 50-year Committee in Bolivia, referred to the extensive program of tribute to the guerrilla that includes reflections on his life and work, visits to historic sites in Vallegrande and La Higuera, concerts and other activities.
The talk took place at the stand of the Ministry of Cultures and Tourism at the La Paz Book Fair.
Roxana Moyano, head of cultural industries, explained to Prensa Latina that the ministry participates in 14 events of this type at the national level with the priority of promoting reading.
The fair began on August 2 and will run until the 13th in the fairgrounds of southern La Paz.
