Reading, a smart choice

Reading is a variable process that aims to understand and enjoy. In this process the reader receives, interprets and reflects. To do this it is necessary for people to participate actively.

Fina García Marruz, a leading Cuban poet, once said: "Reading is like a sixth sense. If man had not invented these signs, he would have lost the full memory of the past, his recent science, all his poetry. Civilization would go back centuries. What do we owe to reading? Man can not calculate it. Since opening the eyes to the world, the knowledge provided by it allows the happy development of childbirth. Reading allows us to communicate with the world. The simple reading of the newspaper denies loneliness. It teaches that our problems are not only ours, that we are facing a larger context that changes and affects us. Reading is not just learning, it is mainly sharing.''

In the bookshop ''Punto y Coma'' del Ariguanabo there are several books that bring the reader to a wonderful world of information, pleasure and enjoyment. School atlases, digital books for young people, the historical-biographical map of Máximo Gómez, as well as the magazines Revolución y Cultura, Somos Jóvenes y Juventud Técnica.

According to the manager of the bookshop Susana Pérez Cabrera, the main activities for the promotion of reading in the municipality are related to the sale of books in communities and work centers:
