July 26th baseball stadium opened its doors almost 40 years ago, but I'm sure it had never had an image as spectacular as the current one. The cave of the Artemisa Hunters, a team inserted in our National Series only six seasons ago, stands out today as Cuba's first sporting scene with LED technology.

Last Tuesday, in the game between Artemisa and Guantanamo, the new system of lighting was officially released. "The lights were a longing for everyone, from players, the people and political organizations, because it was needed a stadium that would meet conditions similar to those in other provinces ", said in dialogue with Granma engineer Israel López Vera, linked to the repair work of the stadium since 2011.
In all this time he has witnessed firsthand the evolution of a spacious and attractively designed place , which has been added 120 LED lamps offering optimal levels of lighting.
"We started from the beginning in 2014, with the earth moving for towers´ construction , because the stadium had only four in the gardens and it needed more. Foundation work was carried out, in addition to the manufacture of columns, racks and ladders. In the founding of the structures Artemisa Integral Construction Company played a key role with high quality indices in the final product ", says López Vera.
Of these new towers built, two are on both sides of the plate, and two are located at the bottom of the crescent near the first and third bases , in order to have eight structures in the stadium with LED lamps of Chinese manufacture.
"This technology stands out due to its quality and energy saving, to the point that it does not consume half of what is spent in other stadiums in the country. In addition, there is no delay in the ignition and each lamp has four independent work sections, a great advantage, so if one of them is affected only lowers the ability to radiate a little, but it keep l working. Thus there is no risk of a total blackout, "explains López Vera, who also talked about d the characteristics of the protection framework.
"Each tower has a lightning rod and among them they create an umbrella effect, like a shield that protects the ground and a perimeter that includes surrounding areas with high frequencies of electrical impacts. In any case, lamps have a five-year guarantee and, depending on the number of hours of operation, they can reach a durability of 15 years, "Lopez confirmed.

Together to the installation of the new lighting system, general repairs were made to the towers of the gardens, cushioning of all fences, painting of different stands and exterior areas , as well as general maintenance tasks in terms of painting, carpentry, plumbing and air conditioning, although there are still certain works to do .
"With all the hassle of meshing for the lightning protection system and ground movement, the field was damaged , especially from the drainage, which was among the best in the country. We have taken steps to recover the qualitative level demanded by the National Series and I am sure we will get it soon ", Lopez Vera emphasized .
The engineer also emphasized the leading role of the Inder Construction Company, the Maintenance Company of Power Plants and CEISA from Pinar del Río, as well as Vials and Community sanitation company in Artemisa, all linked to the works in the stadium.
In addition, the engineer said that the work has had a great impact on the community, to the point that many fans took part in voluntary work.
