Central Cuba Carries Out Comprehensive Hydrocarbon Exploration

Havana -The balance of resources, hydrocarbon reserves, and the comprehensive exploration in land sectors of the Strip of Heavy Crude Oils in Northern Cuba, is today one of the study guidelines of CEINPET.
According to the Business director at the Petroleum Research Center (CEINPET), Jorge L. Gomez, the institution also has as working guidelines the offshore exploration in the Cuban Exclusive Economic Zone in the Gulf of Mexico and improved recovery of oil by stimulating wells.
It also carries out, among others, specialized studies of muds and cements to optimize drilling oil wells, research applied to the improvement of the Cuban crude oil and the execution and updating of studies, technologies and techniques applied to transport fuels (gasoline, turbo fuels and diesel).
The entity also develops products that improve the properties of fuels derived from petroleum.
It also monitors and controls the quality of air and the pollution from liquid waste at the facilities of the Union Cuba-Petroleo (CUPET) company, develops and implements cleaner production practices, applies soil bioremediation and seeks technical solutions to control corrosion protection.
CEINPET provides technical geological services, including: comprehensive well studies during and after drilling, structural analysis in geological conditions of folded belts, and assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of sectors under exploration.
The entity emerged in 1996 from the merger of two centers of recognized research experience, with results and contributions in the oil activity: the Center for Chemical Research and the Petroleum Research and Development Center.
