
Damascus - The Syrian Information Minister, Ramez Turguman, thanked the Cuban people and government for their support for the struggle of the Arab people against terrorism and the aggression of foreign powers.
After receiving the vice president of Prensa Latina, Hector Miranda, at the headquarters of the ministry, the minister acknowledged the just struggle of the Cuban people, headed by the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, against the US aggression since the first years of the revolutionary triumph, on January 1st, 1959.
Cubans consider the cause of the Syrian people as their own cause, emphasized the official, who considered that in this fight against the imposed terrorism, Syria will overcome and will ultimately have a future with greater development and social welfare.
In this context the Syrian minister recognized that Prensa Latina contributes to counteract the media disinformation campaigns against Syria by Western countries.
He also stressed that with systematic and objectively eight correspondents of Prensa Latina conveyed the reality of this nation, since the beginning of the armed conflict in March 2011.
When referring to the ratification of a collaboration agreement between the News Agency Sana and Prensa Latina, the official said that it broadens the cooperation between both countries in the field of information, through the dissemination of truthful messages and attached to reality.
The vice president of Prensa Latina, for his part, stressed that it is an honor to be visiting Syria, a country that, with the resistance and heroism of its people, fights in a determined manner to preserve its sovereignty and independence.
As part of his working visit to Damascus, the member of Prensa Latina Bureau met yesterday with authorities of the Sana News agency and later made a tour through historic sites, including the town of Maloula, the only area of this Arab country where the Aramaic language is preserved.
